Mr. Ward is the EMS Coordinator for the Center Point Fire District in AL. He is a retired Fire Captain at Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service where he served over 20 years as a firefighter, paramedic, company officer, hazmat technician, and training officer. In addition to his field experience, Wes has extensive experience in training firefighters and EMS personnel. He began working at Jefferson State Community College in 2007 as a part-time instructor in the EMS Program. After being a part of the full-time faculty at JSCC and teaching a variety of courses in the EMS Program at the EMT, AEMT, and Paramedic levels, he now again works as a part-time instructor primarily focusing on the EMT and AEMT levels. Wes specializes in test design and analysis. He has participated in multiple prehospital research projects including one co-authorship. Wes has also been a guest lecturer across Alabama on the subjects or cardiac arrest management, drug dose calculations, and EMS testing procedures. He is well versed in curriculum design, implementation, and surveillance. Wes has served on two item writing committees for the National Registry of EMTs at the EMT and AEMT levels. He has also served on the Recognition Committee for the National Association of EMS Educators. Wes' awards and recognitions include BREMSS EMT of the Year 2010, BFRS EMT of the Year 2012, BREMSS Marilyn Grubbs Educational Excellence Award 2012, Resuscitation Outcome Consortium Special Recognition in 2010-2011, as well as several others.
